"I have now been on two of their food tours, including Raleigh and Chapel Hill/Carrboro. The tours are well organized, and the guides are excellent city ambassadors for each of their respective areas. Each tour, of course, is different. There was more walking with the Chapel Hill tour vesus the Raleigh tour. The Raleigh tour included getting on and off the local R-line bus service. The guide was very timely, coordinating our pick up times with each of our stops with very little waiting time. I am a "foodie" at heart, and love to discover new restaurants, followed by the history of the area and restaurants themslelves. I really enjoyed the personalized service from our guide and each of the chef/owners. Our intimate group included only 10 people, and I appreciate thoroughly the thoughtful planning of keeping the numbers low." Angela W
"The tour was amazing! I thought the choices of restaurants were very well rounded and captured the heart of what Durham Food is all about. Meeting at the King's Daughter's Inn was the perfect beginning to the tour and the route we walked, including the amount of time it took from each stop to the scenery and buildings was well thought out and so enjoyable. I thought the tour guide gave just the right amount of information, giving us plenty of info and directions and yet the space to ask questions and enjoy each setting. Some of my favorite stops were Metro 8, Vin Rouge, Pop's and Blu Seafood. (I have to say I loved all the stops though). Thank you for this tour, I live in North raleigh and would never have known about such great restaurants in such a concentrated amount of time. I definitely plan to go back to them all and appreciated the hospitality that each gave. Having had this kind of connection with each restaurant has now established for me a "personal connection" with the food scene in Durham so that I feel comfortable coming back to places I know not only offer excellent food, but to support these businesses for their presence in this area." "Mint was our first stop. We do not eat Indian food often, so this was
a treat. And they did not disappoint! It was amazing and we
hope to get back that way to have a full meal! Provence was
lovely and having the opportunity to eat escargot was daring
but so much fun! Not something we would normally encounter,
so very unique. They were such nice people and a delight to talk to. Glasshalfull
was another spot that we truly loved. The food was fantastic, as was the
wine and the owner and cook were so willing to talk about their passions!
Paola at Panzanella was a lot of fun to learn from and she was so willing
to share her salsa verde recipe--which was amazing with the calamari that
we sampled. The Chocolate Door (so very yummy and a great place for takeaways!),
Carrboro Beverages, and Miel Bon Bons were all nice additions to the tour
(and a great way to "break
it up" and allow tummy's to digest :) Vimala's was yummy and a neat atmosphere.
