Durham Walking Food Tour

Discover Durham's historic past and capture the flavor of the culinary present.

On this guided journey through the streets of downtown Durham we'll be pausing numerous times for sample tastings and personal tales from some of the area's most unique, hidden culinary gems. Along the way, you'll gain some new insights of Durham's "gritty", "eclectic", blue-collar, tobacco & textile roots that are the foundation for this community's now thriving leadership role in medicine, the performing arts and regional cuisine.

The restaurant scene in Durham is thriving and diverse. We operate 2 different tours in downtown Durham and usually alternate between them depending upon schedules and availability.

We'll visit 6-7 different local establishments*, including...

  • One of downtown Durham's iconic Italian restaurants that just moved to a new West Village location ...
  • A local place where you can count on nightly fresh fish specials with a seasonal twist...
  • A unique bistro where you'll experience the taste, look and feel of Southern France...
  • A local establishment that redefines the classic American steakhouse with an Argentinean flare...and much more.

*Tour stops can sometimes vary depending upon scheduling and availability

Some Tour Details:

When: Saturdays at 2:30 pm (arrive 10 min. before- don't be late)

Who:  Able-bodied adults, no more than 10 people

How Much:  $35 per person (+ $2.50 svc chg), includes all tastings at 6-7 restaurants

Weather:  Tours operate rain or shine. Tours are rescheduled if there is a cancellation due to severe weather

What's it like:  Delicious, fun and informative (but remember we'll be walking approx. half of the 3 hours)

What to wear:  Comfortable clothes & walking shoes

Where to meet:  10 minutes before departure in front of Fishmonger's at 806 West Main St, Durham--Free parking in the lot on the side.
